If you have had to move your business online during the last few months due to Covid-19, it might be a good idea to keep your business virtual and not return to the office.

Of course this doesn’t apply to businesses who rely on visits from the general public, but if you were working from an office with no visitors, remaining as a virtual business could benefit you.

Sounds good but what are the benefits?

Travel

There are many benefits to a virtual business, firstly it will save on travel costs for you and your employees, no more commuting to the office, sitting in traffic or being squashed onto public transport with everyone else. Imagine not having to start work stressed after the bun-fight that is morning traffic!

Money savings

Saving money is always a good reason, especially at the moment, and not having to pay rent on office space would save you a lot of money. You are also able to claim back a percentage of utility bills working from home.

Check with your insurance company, but you may be entitled to a reduction if you are not all working in one place, it’s always worth asking.

There may be a reduction in sick pay for your employees as they are not all working together and so unable to share their germs with the rest of the team.

Software

Working from home has never been so easy with all the software and systems out there. You can still hold team meetings using Zoom, you can still keep a track of your team and their tasks using software such as Asana or Trello. You can share documents and files using Google Drive for example, so that all the team have access.

Team

You could also grow your business without having to worry about office space, and removing restrictions on location will open doors to new talent and ensure you can hire the best people for the job even if they are at the other end of the country.
