Many companies, both large and small, send out newsletters, but why do they do it?
What benefit does a newsletter have for your business?
Firstly, you need to have an email list – and you need to make sure you have permission from those people to contact them.
You can get people to sign up to an email list in various ways – one example is to offer new customers a first-time buyers discount for signing up. Or perhaps a free checklist or some form of lead magnet to get their details and then you can add them to your Newsletter list.
Sending a monthly newsletter is a great way to talk to your past and current clients and tell them what is going on in your business.
There may be lapsed customers who have perhaps only bought off of you once, or used your service once, but by sending out regular newsletters, it reminds them that you are there if they need you, rather than waiting for them to think about who to use when they need that particular product or service again. It allows you to maintain an ongoing relationship with them.
It’s also a cost-effective way of reaching your customers, no printing or posting needed and to make it as easy as possible for the customer to make a purchase, you can add links to your newsletter to take them straight to the purchase or booking page.
It’s a great way of targeting your marketing and building up brand loyalty. You don’t always have to be selling in your newsletter, you can dive deeper into who you are, why the business exists and what your brand values are.
What software to help with Newsletters
There are various different systems out there that are ideal for creating your email list and setting up your Newsletter template so that you don’t have to start from scratch every time. Lots of them have a free level too so while your list is still small it’s free, then when you get bigger and need a bigger list there are various prices. I’ve listed 5 below, but there are many to choose from.
- Mailerlite – free version (for up to 1000 contacts), drag and drop editor, pre-built templates, very user friendly
- Mailchimp – free version (for up to 2000 contacts), pre-built templates, more than just a newsletter provider
- Hubspot – free version (for up to 2000 emails per month), CRM software, drag and drop editor
- ActiveCampaign – all in one marketing system, offer 14 day free trial, pre-built templates, great reporting
- Constant Contact – Great for beginners, drag and drop editor, pre-built templates
Most of the systems offer a free trial so you can find one that suits you, but of course if you would prefer to delegate this task out to someone else, this is definitely something I can help you with so please book a call here.
